Pit Pony JakeProviding a Safe Haven and Tender Loving Care for horses and ponies suffering from neglect, ignorance or cruelty or find themselves in need through other causes.

We are a tiny Charity Centre and provide all the Tender Loving Care we can with our meagre resources.

We are based on a small 20+ acre hill farm near Pontypridd South Wales. We are home to a small herd of long term residents. Our aim is to rehabilitate all we can into good caring homes. However the reality is that many of the Ponies with us are unlikely ever to be able to leave.

We receive no statutory funding and rely on public donations. We have a team of good people who are the Ponies family and between them provide the Tender Loving Care they need. However there is always more to do and we would welcome more help.

Pit Ponies! just a handful found a retirement home. Can you help us help them?

Wallace the Pit Pony

Wallace the Pit Pony is part of Film Encounters, a heritage education programme produced and delivered by Jack Drum Arts for County Durham Primary School children and the communities hey live in. It used re-mastered archive footage from the Northern Regional Film and Television combined with child friendly animation as the inspiration for a range of creative arts and media based activities to explore the local social history, customs and traditions of the Durham coalfield communities.

Over a 2 week period in 2011, 25 schools with over 1000 children visited the Durham Gala Cinema to watch the film commission complete with live musical score, participated in high quality music and film related workshops with local film educators and learn't about their local heritage through the medium of film.
